TRAPPED ON THE ROAD
TWO MEN ARRESTED
SEARCH FOR MISSING CAR

GISBORNE, This Day.
The Gisbprne police have been advised of the arrest of two men at Opotiki, allegedly in possession of a car stolen from Wellington on March 10, on a charge of assault and robbery at Tokomaru Bay. The accused, Alfred Norman O'Meara, aged 35, and I Wilkin Eainsdon Avery, aged 24, appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded to- appear at Gisborne, the police stating that the men were also wanted on charges of theft at Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington, following a series of offences between Wellington and Gisborne.
The police were on the look-out for the missing car, and when it was re-, ported to be proceeding towards Opotiki a-trap was set on the road, which was blocked by drawing a horse and dray across the approach to a bridge. The two occupants were immediately apprehended by a -waiting constable, and a search of the car revealed a fullyloaded revolver and a large variety of articles and provisions.
