FINE WEATHER

WINDS SLOWLY CHANGING

Under the influence of an anticyclone which has moved on to the Dominion, the weather for the.present should be fair to fine in most districts, according to the forecast issued at noon today. Winds, which have been southerly and which are now more variable, will gradually tend to an easterly or northerly direction. In far northern districts they will be strong in force, but elsewhere light and moderate at first and increasing in force gradually. Scattered showers are probable in far northern and north-eastern districts and later about Eoveaux Strait.

The anticyclone was the cause of generally fair to fine weather yesterday. Some light and isolated showers, however, fell along the east coast as an accompaniment to the southerly change, and since last night some showers have fallen in far northern districts also. By this morning winds over the Dominion had beconie more variable than they were yesterday, and a strong easterly was prevailing north of Auckland. The disturbance, referred to yesterday as being located to the north of New Zealand appears to be filling up, but there is apparently a westerly depression .over the Tasman Sea which may. later somewhat adversely affect the Dominion's weather.

Auckland enjoyed a fine day yester day with a light southerly wind.

The-- weather in Wellington was mostly fair. The northerly breeze, which prevailed in the morning gave place at about 1.4 a p.m. to a keen southerly. Dark and ominous clouds blew up, but no rain fell, and subsequently the weather brightened again.

Dull weather with a strong southwesterly wind prevailed in Christchurch yesterday morning. When the. wind died down in the afternoon rain, amounting in all to two points,- fell.

Duncflin had fine and sunny weather yesterday, with a jgouth-westerly breeze.
