HUTT POWER BOARD
FEBRUARY BUSINESS
The Hutt Valley Electric Power Boards met yesterday. Mr. S. Blackley presided, and there were also present Messrs. A. Walker, A. J. Hobbs, A. Anderson, A. W. Press, L. Stewart, J. Malier, W. H. P. Barber, and J. W. McEwan. ;
It was decided to ■ support three out b£ four proposals made by the electric supply authorities of the Auckland province to the Gqvernment*for an immediate reduction in bulk supply charges.
Statistical returns for February, with totals to date in parentheses, were presented by the engineer-general manager (Mr. E. F. Hollands) as follows:—Number of installations, 29 (11,161); ranges, 7 (1487); water heaters, 12 (1353). The connected work in K.W. was 218 (40,850), made up of light 13 (5039), heat 120 (27,927), and power 85 (7584). The maximum demand was 2664 k.v.a. from Melling at 11.45 a.m.-on Saturday, February 4, at .88' power factor, and 1674 k.v.a. from Khandallah at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 14, at .99 power factor. Units registered' for the month totalled 1,053,900 from Melling, and 708,600 from Khandallah.
Reinspectibn work was proceeding in the Eastbourne district.
£_A decrease was shown in revenue from ■power sales, during the eleven months ended February, .1933, as compared witk revenue for the same period last year. The figures, to the nearest pound, are as follows, with the figures for the period ended February, 1932, in parentheses:— Domestic lighting, £."M,041 (£35,651); commercial lighting, £8794 (£8306); heating and cooking, £20,021 (£18,887); water heating, £8190 (£7864); power, £21,095 (£22,566); street lighting, £3663 (£3816). Discounts allowed amounted to £9075 (£7713), making the net revenue for the eleven months £87,027 (£89,377).
