OBITUARY
MR. W. BRIERTON
The death occurred in a private hospital in Wellington on Wednesday of Air. William Brierton, chief engineer of the s.s. Highland Warrior. Mr. Brierton joined the Highland Warrior in the River Tyne. The vessel left Xcweastle-on-Tyne on December 2-1, 1932, in ballast for New Zealand under charter to the Slaw, Savill, and Albion Company. Mr. Brierton was landed from the Highland Warrior at Wellington on March 4, suffering from acute appendicitis. He was a married man 4S years of age, with three children, and came from Liverpool. He had been on the Highland' Warrior a considerable time, and was chief engineer for the past eight years.
The funeral took place this morning. The Eev. Father T. M. Heffer'nan conducted the service ,in St. Mary of the Angels Church, and at the graveside iv Karori Cemetery. Among those present were Captain "SV. H. Hartman, marine superintendent, Messrs. F. H. Prince and J. S. Swan, of the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company, Mr. P. McKenzie and other members of the Marine, Engineers' Institute, and Mr. R. Dudley, re,presenting W. Cable and Co. The" pallbearers were members of the Marine Engineers' Institute.
