TALLEYRAND'S MESSAGE

The Secretary, General Post Office, advises that the following message having reference to the search for the Japanese steamer Kinsen Maru was broadcast by the s.s. Talleyrand at' 2 o'clock this morning:— "2 a.m., 16th. Talleyrand communicated Kinsen Maru last time evening of 13th. Nothing heard since. Reached position 2 p.m. 14th, searched a sector sides North and North 60 degrees East length 60 miles. Triona searched near Chesterfield. Eeef and Bennot- Island Wednesday, proceeding northward. No sign of life or wreckage. Welcomb will cruise position early Thursday for time.. Nauru Chief will Thursday morning make Bonnet Island, Long Island, and Avon Island. Hide Maru will pass latitude 20.30 S.- Thursday afternoon. Mataram probably pass area Thursday. Talleyrand continues searching Thursday in conjunction with these vessels." The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington (Mr. G. McNamara) has received the following navigation warning, broadcast by the Brisbane Eadio at 12.5 a.m.: "All ships request keep sharp look out for disabled steamer Kinsen Maru or possible wreckage or lifebuoys from same. Last known position lat. 20deg 53min S., long. loGdeg 64min E., at noon March 13, and advise Deputy Director of Navigation, Brisbane."
