LADIES" AUXILIARY REPORT
The fact that £76 had been raised during the year towards the funds of the association is mentioned in the annual report of the Ladies' Auxiliary Wellington East Girls' College Parents' Association, to be presented at the annual meeting on Monday next. The racing of this amount has made it possible lor the association to continue the improvements to the grounds and other works that would not otherwise have been possible.
_ Work in connection with the formation of new play areas has been carried out, continues the report, and the surfacing of the main drive with bitumen completed. The labour employed was made available under the Government unemployed scheme, and the cost of materials and tools met by the Parents' Association. Further planting of trees was made, bringing the total up to approximately 1250. During the year the association made grants for annual prizes, prize-giving expenses, dux medal, and soup kitchen. The executive has decided to erect a shelter shed on the top playing area towards which the Board of' Governors has promised a donation.
The executive's thanks and appreciation are extended to the principal (Miss Batham), the staff, all those who assisted at the annual fair, the result of which amounted to £50.
The New lork Telephone Company has fP?o e nd n «the title "Miss" from tbe names ot 12,000 unmarried women in the -winter edition of its directory. The omission has meant a saving of 10. pages in each of the hundreds of thousands of copies of the directory issued.-
