THIS MORNING'S GALLOPS

MARTIAN CHIEF BLEEDS

The final galloping of horses to Tace at the Wellington Meeting tomorrow and on Saturday was doire at Trentham in fine but windy weather this morning. The plough and trial grass tracks were both open, but most of the work 'was done on the plough. The two-year-olds were allowed the use of the course proper. Unless 'otherwise stated, the gallops were on the plough. The first of the workers was the Thompson favourite", Autopay, who ran three furlongs in 3G 2-ssec and did it well. ■

TWO-YEAR-OLD WORKERS,

On the outside o£ the course proper Dole ran half a mile in 48 l-sscc. Pegged Exchange,-a lazy worker and with a good weight "up, required 52sec. Fracas sprinted down the straight. Guarantee ran half a mile talong the back; but was not timed.

Bed Manfred came down from the five furlongs post in lmin lsec. Diatomous. increased his pace from a canter to full speed over the same stretch. Trivet only cantered down from the mark.

Princess Dorcen,.lightly shod, slipped over five furlongs, brilliantly on the trial grass in 59 4-ssce, doing the last half-mile in 47 3-osec. On the course proper Gay Sheila beat' Secrecy by two lengths over half a mile in 48 4-sscc. Golden Hair" 'did. pacing only with Pesckiera, the pair sharpening up down"- the • straight.... Golden Horn and Capetownl ran six furlongs in lmin 17 2-ssec, the' last half-mile in 52sec- Invite and Shootist were together at the end of six furlongs in lmia ISsec.

Cricket Bat reeled off six furlongs in lmin 15 3-ssoe, doing the first two furlongs in 24 3-osec. Zeebi'ugge ran half a mile in 51sec. Rebel Song worked similarly. Rocket finished up his work with- half a mile in 55sec. Heather Glow did his half-mile in 52aec.

La Moderne and Inflation were going easily together at the end of half a mile in 50 3-ssec. On the grass Jadarino registered 50 2-osee for a similar distance.

Eminent finished half a length in front of Might, with Epigram a length back, after running six furlongs in lmin lGsee, the final half-mile in 50 2-ssec. Palace beat Revision by two lengths, with Chile a like distance away, at the close of five furlongs in lmin 6 3-ssec.

. On the grass Tout le Mond drew out to a length lead over Gay Crest at the close of five furlongs in lmin 4 4-ssec, the last half-mile in 50 3-ssee. On the same track Adventus just beat Bed Mush at the end of seven furlongs in lmin. 29 2-ssee, the final half-mile in

51sec.

Miladi was two lengths too good for March Alone over six furlongs in lmin 16 3-ssec. Pomp beat Cottesmore by half a length over half a mile in 49 see.

GOLD TRAIL RECOVERED,

Gold Trail and Awaken went a mile together in lmin 43 3-ssec, the final half-mile in 52sec The St. Leger candidate looks well, evidently having mado a good recovery from, her recent cold. Awaken, who will be K. "Voitre's Thompson mount, is al»o in excellent apparent shape.

True Shaft finished a neck in front of Eupator at the end of half a mile in 48 3-ssec. Green Linnet, who looks a picture' of fitness, ran the* last halfmile of fivo furlongs alone in 48 2-ssec. The Tiger, after a slow beginning, registered 48 3-osec for half a mile.

Looksley finished up' his work with a. three furlongs sprint in 36 4-ssec. Cardinal Moon went lazily over half a mile.

Lordly Knight reeled off three furlongs brilliantly on the grass in 35 2-ssee, but he is a great track worker. On. the same track Good Hunting, assisted by Misfire from -the half-mile, went five furlongs in lmin 2 4-ssee, the final half in 49soc, finishing 3ome lengths in front.

Martian Chief finished his work with six furlongs in lmin 17 4-ssec, but he was bleeding when pulled up. This has lately been a Tegular occurrence with him, but his trainer says lie has never had such a bad attack as this

morning.

Gay Court ran seven furlongs in lmin 17sec, doing the last half-mile in 50 2-ssee. Mobile and Chief Light did. an easy half in. 53 2-ssec. Owlsflight ran half a mile in 53sec.

Assemble and Kerbside (in. blinkers) were on approximate terms at the end of five furlongs, the last half-mile in 50sec. Worship just shaded Trek at the close of five fwlongs in lmin 3 4-ssec, the final half-mile in 51sec.

Ruling Light and Shining Gold Tan seven furlongs comfortably in. Imin 34see, doing the last half-mile ia 53 2-ssee and finishing together.

Late Jest was again very lame at the end. of his work. He is, to be turned out for an immediate spell and will not be racing at the meeting.
