INDIA'S AIR STRENGTH
INADEQUACY STRESSED
COMPARISON WITH RUSSIA
(Received March 10, 11 a.m.) CALCUTTA, March 9. The dangers of tho inadequate air defence of India were stressed by Mr. Arthur M&ore in the Legislative Assembly at Delhi.' He said that India's air strength had remained stationary at eight squadrons for nearly ten years, but the air arms of other modern Powers were developing t enormously, particularly Russia, whose aeroplanes wore capable of flying over tho towns and cities of the Punjab and returning to their base the same day. Mr. G. R. Tottenham, the Army Secretary, announced that the whole question of India's air strength had been referred to the Committee of Imperial Defence.
