BRUCE AND FERGUSON

NEW DEVELOPMENT

(Received March 10, 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 9. Though Downing Street has made no specific request ior Dominions co-opera-tion, Mr. Bruce and the Canadian High Commissioner, Mr. Ferguson, are going to Geneva tomorrow to attend the Disarmament Conference owing to the gravity of the crisis. Their attendance is" a new development in Dominions diplomacy. No Dominion representatives have hitherto journeyed to Geneva except for formal transactions, as for example the Assembly opening. Mr. Bruco is reluctant to leave London in view of the butter situation, but he considers it essential to maintain contaot with th© British Government over disarmament. Consequently there will be no further butter negotiations until he returns.
