AUTUMN WEATHER

FINE CONDITIONS. HOLD

- The weather will be fair to fine generally, but showery about Foveaux -Strait and later in North Auckland, according to the forecast issued at noon today; Freshening easterly winds are expected north of Kawhia. and East Capo. Elsewhere they will be variable, with easterlies to southerlies prevailing. Barometers have risen steadily, an anticyclone having moved gradually on to tho Dominion. Consequently the weather has been fair in most parts, with cool southerly winds prevailing. It has been showery, however, about Foveaux Strait, and showers have also fallen at a few isolated places in the North Island. A depression is still situated to the north of Norfolk Island, but has made little progress southwards since yesterday, and its only effect so far has been to" cause winds to change to easterly in the Auckland Peninsula. Auckland had fine weather yesterday with a light south-westerly wind. It was. fine also at Wellington, where a cool southerly breeze prevailed. There were eight hours of sunshine. At Christchurch it was sunny, a light southerly wind changing to north-east about noon. In Dunedin the weather was fair and cool, with intermittent cloud and sunshine.
