Those present at the ceremony included members of the City Council and the Returned Soldiers' and South African Veterans' Associations. In the course of an address delivered in, Greek, the Archbishop referred to New Zealand's splendid response to the call to the colours, and said that the memorial •was a constant reminder of the high principles of Christian civilisation, and the noble versions of the higher emotions exemplified by Kiose who died for their country.
