PENNMT MATCHES x
L'YALL BAY IN THE LEAD
Lyall Bay, in scoring a 75 per cent, win in pennant matches on. Saturday, futw ther consolidated their leadership in the Senior Pennant competition, and, unless something quite unexpected happens in the next and final round, look like the winners of .the competition. The weather was extremely boisterous, so much so that chance entered into some matches, but the leaders' play -was again, consistent. Woburn, 75 per > cent., Wellington, 70 per cent., and Island Bay, Petone, Thorndon, and Newtown, .■with better than 65 per cent., made good showings, but Hataitai, who were well up on the aggregate percentage list, fell badly. Hataitai lost four games out of five ott their own green. Watts for a time had. a big lead over Houldsworth (Wellington), the score at the eighth head being' 13-3 in iavqur of Hataitai. The Wellington link, however, made a wonderful recovery and won by 19 points to 16. Duncan beat Shepherd by 20 to 19. At the last head Duncan wanted four to tie or five to irin, and he got the five, Shepherd electing to drive and missing with both, bowls. . ''. .
