GOOD SERVICE RENDERED
The Seventh-Day Adventist Conference has organised the members of its churches into a welfare society, for the purpose of collecting articles of food and clothing to be distributed amongst the needy. Wherever ■ these welfare societies have been put into operation, considerable success has been achieved in collecting useful articles of clothing. Certain members of the society are furnished with cards authorising them to collect garments and food, so that the donors may be assured of the bona fides of the collectors', and other persons are authorised to investigate needy cases before assistance is rendered. Such work naturally requires the .services of tactful persons who can win the confidence of those in distress, and yet not allow their sympathies to run away with their judgment. Already in various parts of the Dominion units of this welfare society have been established, with the result that much distress, has been relieved. In Wellington the society has done good work, a large number of families • having been given I necessary help in clothing and food during the past winter and spring.
