The increase, in the number of drowning accidents in New Zealand was deplored at the conference o£ the New Zealand Life Saving Association at lroxton on Saturday night. It was decided, in order to stimulate the formation of surf clubs on all beaches, that a set of commonsense rules -be framed for the advice of bathers and that the iress throughout the Dominion be 'requested to give full publicity to same In a general discussion several delegates voiced their opinions on matters calculated to effect improvements in the work of the association.
