YACHTING
A hard nor'-west blow, approaching gale force at times, provided a good test for boats and skippers at Paremata during the weekend, when races for all classes were held. Results, with handicaps and actual sailing times, are given below:— I'irst Class Centreboard Handicap.— Ivewpie (Bmin) lh 16m 575, 1; Kuini (4% imn), lh 1/ni 265, 2; Miss Josephine (scr), lh 13m 2s, 3. Also started: Putorino (4% mm), Kotuku II (4%min), Peggy (scr). I'eggy actually finished second, but was disqualified for fouling Miss Josephine. beeond Class Handicap.—lanthe (2min) Oreroa, and Tui (scr) were the starters in tins race, but lanthe capsized when running down Brown's Bay, and the race was abandoned. . Takapuna Class Handicap.—Five boats contested the Takapima Handicap, Windsong (12mm), Silver Dawn (9min), Nnstar (smm), Wairoa (2min), and Noleen (scr). AH managed to reach the windward buoy at Greys, but. on the long run back to Bradcys tVmdsong skied her spinnaker and capsized. Under the club's rules, the race was then declared off.
