A FURTHER RECOVERY

CHAIRMAN'S STATEMENT

"During the four weeks ended February 4, the railways have recorded a gain of £16,094 in net revenue compared, with the corresponding period last year," said Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Government Eailways Board, in a statement today. "This," continued Mr. Sterling, "brings us to the end of 44 weeks of the financial year with a total increase of £52,700 in, net revenue compared with the corresponding term last financial year. "A pleasing feature of the month's returns is that the total revenue shows an. increase, the amount being £6527, while working expenses were reduced by £9567. "For the year to date the total revenue has been £4,928,510 and working expenses £4,344,668," giving a net revenue of £583,842, which (as indicated above) is £52,700 more than for the corresponding 44 weeks last.year."
