TRADE WITH THE EAST
PLEA FOR SHEEP'S TONGUES
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") DTJNEDIN, This Day. A Dunedin business man, Mr. Andrew McKinnon, is impressed with the argument for, opening up trade between New Zealand and the East. Whilst in Australia recently,' Mr. McKinnon found that the Australian Glass Company was not only making glass at its Sydney works, but putting up in glass jars quantities of sheep's tongues for shipment to the East. "For tongues so placed on the market," he said, "there was a steady demand. Eastern people prefer goods in glass to those in tins." To tho question, "Why cannot New Zealanders follow the example thus set and export to the East tongues and other pressed meats?" Mr. McKinnon says he has been unable to obtain any satisfactory reply. "Direct trade with the East," ho added, "is surely possible. »That New Zealand tongues are in favour on the market is fully proved.. The New Zealand Trade Commissioner in Sydney had an inquiry from Melbourne a few weeks ago for some tons of that delicacy/
