JARDINE'S TRIBUTE
LOYALTY OF TEAM
AUSTRALIAN COMMENT
SYDNEY, February 16. , Tha English captain, D. K. Jardine, in a statement at Brisbane after the Tost victory, said!: "Personally I am thrice, lucky in the side it is. my' proud privilege to load. No captain could ask for greater help, sympathy, and utter loyalty. We are pxond of our fortune, against gallant, determined opponents." The manager, Mr. P. F. Warner, said ha waa proud and delighted at recovering th Q "Ashes." Commenting on tho result of tho Jest, the "Sun," editorially, says: While it ia permissible for cricket enthusiasts to find all sorts of reasons for tho failure of tho Australian team, it is well tofaee th 6 fact that the English team is the better. It is distinctly better in tha accuracy of its fielding- it has a larger percentage of reliiolo batsmen, and ia stronger in bowling. Whether wo agree that the intimidation of batsmon is cricket or not th» fact remains that Larwood is an excellent .fast bowler with all tho speed and devil of the fast bowlers of the past. But there is no need to despairAustralian cricket will come again"
