After a long discussion, the.special Observatory Committee set up^ between! The New Zealand Institute shaQJ when it has secured the necessary; sanction by Act of Parliament, proce'ecl with the building, and shall purchase , from the City Council its telescope'at a price not exceeding £500. ■ " The governing body shall be the Car* ter Observatory Committee, and coin sist of five members, three being xc* presentatives of the New Zealand In« stitute as Carter trustees, one a repie* sentative of the "Wellington City Conn* cil as providing the site, and one representative f the New Zealand Astro> nomical Society as providing the staff and upkeep. ■ The telescope is to be available for the use of the public for at least on» ■ night a week at a small charge.to_W fixed by the Carter Observatory Corh.mittee from time to time.
