ALLEGED NEGLECT
PRISON CAMP MEN
1 ' (By Jeleflraph.) (Special to.'The Evening Post") DUNEDIN, February 15. At a meeting of the' Patients and Prisoners' Aid Society a member said that- men sent away to prison camps in the; North Island wore being neglected.- He had communicated with other societies, which admitted that they were unable to help these' men. He asked was. it not a serious thing that when Parliament had said in'its wisdom that a_ man ".ould bo sentenced .to reformative detention instead of imprisonment ho provision was made for his reformation? The men detained for reformative purposes were treated by th 6 warders in the usual way as prisoners. Reformative detention was only a name. The secretary of the Auckland Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society, the Bey. Mr. Moreton, wrote suggesting that a conference of> societies, be; held in Wellington.to consider' means of coordinating and improving the work in connection with prisoners. The meeting decided to inform. Mr. Moretonthat the society was sympathetic with the proposal and to ask him to submit an agenda for consideration.
