LEAVE FOR SOUTH TONIGHT
' Th© English public school boys now touring the Dominion were the guests at luncheon of 7 the English-speaking Union today. • -;> : 7 In welcoming, the' guests, Mr. H. F. Johnston, K.C., . remarked that by their tour tho boys would be able \to gain a true perspective of - problems which thejr might one day be calted upon to decide. He humorously sug-. gest'ed that as England" spent Hi much on-'defence as she did on education and as New Zealand spent much more on education than On defence, the: boys had.come out:to get more education, while New Zealand was leaving the matter of defence to: them. After 'Colonel M. Charteris had returned thanks for the hospitality shown all round, two "boys of the party, A_. H. H. Lebus (Eton)' and B. N. WaleyCohen (Clifton), spoke' briefly and thanked everyone for their kindness. They had expected to have a good-time, but their expectations, they said, had been exceeded. ; ', ' The party spent the morning visiting the Petone Woollen Mills,: arid;this afternoon is free for sight-seeing.-To-night the boys leave for a tour of ;the South Island. ; ' '
