LURLINE AND CARINTHIA
The Matson liner Lurline arrived at •>• Auckland yesterday from' San Francisco and Los Angeles i-'v. the course of her first voyage. She had more than 250 passengers on board, and some left on excursions^ for Rotorua and the Waitomo Caves., but none came to Wellington. The other Matson liners, Mariposa and Monterey, are at present engaged in the America-Auckland-Sydney service, and although it has been thought by many that the Lurline will enter the New Zealand service the local agents state that the schedule of Bailings up to October do not include the Lurline in the New Zealand service. The.Monterey, en route from Sydney to San Francisco, was also at Auckland yesterday. The Lurline -will leave Auckland at 7 a.m. on Thursday, for Sydney, and will proceed from Sydney to the Orient. The Cunard liner Carinthia is due at Auckland on Friday with 272 passengers on board, in the course of a world tour. The Carinthia will leave Auckland on the evening of February 20, and is due at Wellington -on the morning of February 22.
