WELLINGTON COLLEGE VISITED
A' visit to Wellington College was paid by the English public school boys yesterday afternoon, the party being welcomed by Mr. W. A. Armour, the principal.-....' In extending his welcome, Mr. Armour remarked that, although its appearance might belie' it, Wellington College wa_ one.of the oldest schools in New,Zealand.Vlt could boast, too, of some very distinguished old boys, including Colonel B. C. Freyberg, V.C.', and the New Zealand Judiciary was largely composed of old boys of the college. Wellington College had a very [broad curriculum and a wide range of studies. The standard of secondary (schools in the Dominion was high, and class-room facilities compared favourably with those in the Old Country. Colonel N. Charteris, in returning [thanks, said that they were more than pleased at the opportunity- of seeing one of the oldest schools in New Zealand. He hoped that before long New Zealand would be able to send a contingent of boys to see the schools ofEngland, and thus allow the people of the Old Country to repay some of the hospitality shown to them. He iadded that they had not realised that [Wellington College was so large, comparable in size only to Eton, and he though it would be an exeeUent idea if, on the lines of other post-war . alliiance's, it could be linked np with Wellington CoUege at Home. An exchange of cheers, the singing pi the school song, and an inspection js£ the T)_il'dipgs,. followed, by.afternoon, fea, [brought the function to an end..-• Mil " ' '— —
