ARCHITECTS CONFER

MEETING OF INSTITUTE

The council of the New Zealand Institute of Architects held its twenty-seventh annual - meeting this morning in the Accountants* Chambers.. Mr. H. Mandeno, Dunedin, presided.. He remarked that the prevailing circumstances had rendered it advisable not to have any official opening of the proceedings by the Mayor, as was usual. The meeting, therefore, proceeded with its business without any formal opening. It was decided to send a message to the Governor-General, affirming the institute's loyalty and expressing appreciation of his patronage. Reference was made to the death of r1,0.. A. Lawrence, who was president of the institute in 1917-18, and a member of the executive continuously since then until his death. The discussion of reports- will occupy the attention of the meeting most of today.
