WAIRARAPA POWER

TEN MONTHS' FIGURES

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CARTERTON, This Day. At yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board tho secre-tary-manager reported that the total decrease in net revenue for tho first ten months of tho year (excluding bulk supply) was £2974 I3s 9d, made up as follows:—Decrease in rates, £358 13s 9d; increased accounts, £2616. Tho estimates over the twelve months wore £6611 17s, as under: Decrease in sales, £2535 17s; increased discounts, £4076. The position i_ accordingly very satisfactory and a decided gain on the estimates. Tho estimated revenue from bulk supply for the first niue months was £2726, and the actual revenue for this period was £3213. The revenue from sales of electricity is substantially better than the estimate. The position in connection with the other items of revenue is also satisfactory, aud the indications are that these items also' will be slightly more than the estimate. Tho amount of gross revenue from trading is doubtful, and will probably be less than the estimate, but any deficiency will be more than compensated for by the other lines. Referring to the rise of tho exchange rate, the manager stated that owing to the fact that the loans aro domiciled in Now Zealand the increase in tho rate of exchange will not directly increase to any great extent tho items charged to revenuo account. The items chiefly affected will bo maintenance and transport material, and duo to the e_.chan.go alono the costs ou these items will be increased by approximately £125 per annum. Indirectly it can be expected that the cost of most other services will b e slightly increased, and the total extra charge in revenue account as a result of the exchange will be approximately £200 per annum. The sales tax aud petrol tax will further increase these amo'uuts. by about £150 per annum, so that the total extra charges on revenue account can be set down at £350 per annum.
