A high-pressure area extends from northern Xcw Zealand to the eastwards, but a depression is still situated over the greater part of the Dominion, its centre this morning being off the west coast of Otago. Fresh to strong northerly winds have, consequently, continued to prevail, with unsettled weather and widespread rain south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, while over the northern half of the North Island it has been mainly fair to cloudy. Rain has been very heavy at places in the western districts and at Nelson, where many of the rivers haTe become flooded. Arthur's Pass reports having had .690 Inches, Nelson 3.62, Westport 2.47, and Greymouth 2.20 inches.
