PARAMOUNT THEATRE.
Tew programmes shown In Wellington have proved so satisfying as "The Elnger," and tha supporting features at the Paramount AllBritish Theatre. Edgar Wallace was a master craftsman at the construction of popular stories, and one of his biggest' successes was undoubtedly "The Hinger." Gordon Harker makes a big hit as "Hackett," and Patrick Curwen is very fine as "Doctor Lomond of Scotland Yard," The London "Era" and the "Christchurch Press" both refer to "The Frightened Lady," the epecial attraction which will begin at the Paramount Theatre next Friday, as "the best acted play seen upon the screen." It is described as "Edgar Wallace at his best." It is fairly certain that the noted writer never conceived a more unusual plot—or one in which the suspense is more cleverly sustained-. This outstanding play met with phenomenal success at Sir Charles Wyndham's Theatre, London, where it ran for eighteen months, and now 70 per cent, of the original legitimate cast will be seen on Friday in Gainsborough's screen version. Gordon Harker has a great part in real comedy vein, and other members of the east include Norman McKinnell, Cathleen I\esbit, Emlyn Williams, and Belle Chrystall. Box plans are now open at the Bristol. '
