THE PIHAMA CRASH

INQUEST OPENED

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH,' 30th January. ' An inquest into the death of Eichard Guy Putt, who was killed in the aeroplane crash at Pihama on' Sunday afternoon, was opened at Opunake to^ day before the district Coroner, Mr. E S. Sage, of Hawera. After medical evidence and informal evidence of identification were taken the inquest was adjourned sine die and will probably be resumed when the pilot, Mr. B. Davies has sufficiently recovered from his injuries to give evidence. An aeronautical inquiry will probably be held. Mr. Forsyth, over whose home the aeroplane was circling before the crash, said he saw ths aeroplane flying over his house, and the flyers signalled to liiin. from the aeroplane. Before adjourning the • inquest, the Coroner said he was sorry to state that the removal of the aeroplane from where the accident occurred was contrary to the Aerial Navigation Act, and he would have to report it.

Mr. Davies's condition to-day is improved, and he is recovering from concussion. Other injuries include a deep cut four inches long in the forehead, and a broken nose. There is no sign of internal injuries.
