The talk of dictatorship everywhere in France indicates,deep discontent and unrest. Demonstrations have occurred in' the provinces and police cordons were broken by angry crowds. Serious rioting which occurred oa Sunday indicates the ■ tense situation. • Demonstrators representing taxpayers endeavoured to march on the Presidency. Mounted and foot police tried to prevent them,'but thousands of men and women, singing "The Marseillaise," were not even, intimidated" by the display of steel-helmeted guards before the Quai d'Orsay. ; "WTien the mounted police finally dispersed the crowd a number were injured and numerous arrests were made.

Even bigger demonstrations are beinjg arranged. Fifty thousand taxpayers have applied for tickets for a meeting on Monday. ." :
