CONFISCATION URGED
SOVIET WHALING SHIPS
SEIZED BY JAPANESE
TOKIO, 30th January. The police urge the confiscation of four Soviet whalers -which entered -in a prohibited port in the Bonin Islands, and were brought to Yokohama under naval escort. The evidence of the log books does not support the excuses advanced, but the authorities seem reluctant to incur the odium of being accused of retaliation. There have been many illegal seizures of Japanese vessels in Kamchatka ■waters.
