SUPPORT FOR BRITISH PLAN
(British Officlal'wirelessO (K«ceived.3lst January, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 30th. January. The Bureau of the World Disarmament Conference met formally, at Geneva this afternoon to prepare for a meeting of the General Commission on Tuesday. Press messages suggest that provision is being made to obviate delay resulting from week-end political crises in France and Germany. If owing to the absence of the French delegate, the discussion o£ the French plan cannot be begun, as arranged, at Thursday's meeting, the Commission will consider minor affairs, pending ais arrival. '
The programme of work put forward by Great Britain to Jaeilitate the progress of the Conference and speed up practical decisions will come before the Commission Vt an early date, and it is hoped that the.proposals, which, are not a new or_ rival "plan," but aim only at co-ordinating the results of many months' discussions;and accelerating an agreement, will, secure 'general support.
