Their style was unorthodox, and had been founded mainly on the style of that great New Zealand swimmer, 'J. Enwright. • He thought that the Otago coaches, in view of the successes of tho Auckland representatives, should .consider copying their methods. The northern swimmers gave a good deal bf attention to diet, and did not eat for a. period of five hours before a race. He thought that in. S. Jarvis Otago had the makings of a phenomenal swimmer.
