WATCH SURVIVES
After being boiled for ten days under a steam pressure of 951b to the square inch, followed by five days in cooling water, and three months in the "sludge" after the .water had lwen drained off, a gold watch, which was found in a boiler at. the Byer Moor colliery, near Stanley, Durham, was still in. good condition, except that the mainspring was broken.
The watch was lost' by 'fk'e engineer who examined the boilers some time ago, and was recovered when they were being cleaned out.
