BOY LOST IN POOL

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, 30th January. An eight-year-old boy who could not swim, John Henry Garritt, lost his life when bathing in a pool at" Oakley Creek, Avondale, this afternoon. The deceased, the son of Mr. J. H. Garritt, of Mount Albert, went to a pool with another boy, Prank Shridsky. Garritt jumped into the water from the bank apparently not realising the depth of the- water. He was soon in difficulties, and after coming to the surface and sinking three times he disappeared.

The lad Shridsky ran for help, and the body was recovered.in about five feet of water. Artificial respiration was attempted, but without avail.
