RACES AT PAREMATA

Conditions were overcast, with occasional drizzling rain and a, fresh northwest breeze, when the boats lined up to start at Paremata last week-end. A strong spring tide running up the channel made tor fast times, and some keen racing and close finishes were witnessed. Results, with handicaps and actual sailing times, are as follows:—

First Class Centreboard Handicap.— Pt'ggy (lniin), lhr lomin lOsec, I;'Putorino (3min), lhr 17min 20sec, 2; Kuini (2min), lhr 17min 30sec, 3. Also started: Kewpie (Omin), Kotuku II (Smin), Miss Josephine (scr). The Kotuku II actually finished first, but was disqualified for fouling- the mark buoy at the end of the first round.

Second Class Centreboard Handicap.— lanthe (3min), lhr Bmin 6sec, 1; Oreroa (2min), lhr 7min 35sec, 2; Tui (ser), lhr smin 42sec, 3.

Takapuna Class Handicap.—Windsong (lOmin), lhr 25min lsec, 1; Wairoa (scr), lhr 15min 16see, 2; Nustar (3min), lhr 20min 63sec, 3. Special First Class Handicap.—Kotuku II (3%min), lhr 23min 33see, 1; Putorino (4min), lhr 24niin 14sec, 2; Miss Josephine (4min), lhr 24min 56sec, 3. Also started: Kuini (lmin), Peggy (scr). The Kotuku 11, with Crawford at the helm, took the lead from the Miss Josephine at Moorehouse Buoy, and although hard pressed by the Putorino on the last run, staved ,oft the challenge to win by 11 seconds.

The Works Committee of the Pctone Borough Council and the Superintendent of the Petone Firs Brigade are to inquire into complaints of low water pressure at Korokoro.
