CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS
TWO RECORDS BROKEN
The carnival conducted by. the. Wellington Centre of .the New-Zealand., Amateur Swimming Association attracted a failcrowd of spectators to the Te Aro Baths ou-Saturday afternoon. A varied programme had been arranged including four Centre championships and,a number of handicap events. Competition, throughout was very keen; with good fields in nearly every race. J. C. Blakeley retained his titles in the 50 and 440 yards, free-style championships, K. Spry again ■ won the . breast-stroke championship, and Miss P.. price, the present champion, dived off for the women's diving championship, being the only entrant. In the 50 yards championship Blakeley clipped 3-ssee off the existing -record, and Spry : showed fine form in winning the breast-stroke" championship 2 sec under the record. Spry took thp cad from the start and, swimming: strongly throughout, won by about twenty. yards. Heiburnwas two, yards ahead ot Hansen.
