GAY SCIENTISTS
Scientists who are bent on taking the drabness out of life met in London at a dinner remarkable for its exotic vividness. Instead of the starched white waistcoat they'decided to wear—dare it be said?—blue, scarlet, green, and, in one case, a new colour which has been named Sunset on che Desert, says the "Daily Mail." These iconoclasts are members of the 16 leading chemical bodies, in the country, whose annual dinner, under the aegis of the Society of Chemical Industry, is held at the Connaught Rooms. These sartorial 6hocks have been planned by a group of distinguished men in the chemical world—Sir Frederick Keeble and Professor J. C. Drummond are among the leaders—following the example at the annual congress of the industry in June set by the president, Professor H. E. Armstrong, who appeared at dinners in many-hued waistcoats. "
