DROWNED IN SWIFT RIVER

INVERCARGILL, This Day. Arthur Bates, aged 21 years, a sawmill worker,' was drowned whilo endeavouring to swim the swift "Waiau River near Tuatapcre on Sunday afternoon. A companion attempted a rescue, but both sank. The body has not been recovered yet.
