ZINOVIEV MYSTERY

Mystery surrounds the "fate of Gregori Zinoviev, the' former Bolshevik leader and author of the famous "Ked Letter.'' -He was reported from Moscow to have died there from heart failure. The report was confirmed in Berlin by the Soviet Embassy. Later, however, vigorous denials of the notorious Bolshevik's death were issued by "Tass," the official Soviet news agency, from Moscow.

The uncertainty surrounding Zinoviev's fate is a curious parallel to the uncertainty of his position in Soviet councils in recent years, says the "Daily Mail." Twice he has been exiled, and each time restored with greatly diminished powers. Alive or dead his fame rests upon the notorious letter to British Communists of 1924, ordering them.to paralyse the British Army and Navy and to use every means to cause a civil war in this country. That letter was published in the "Daily Mail," and resulted in the overwhelming defeat of the first Socialist Government at the polls.
