Eeplying to several questions in thS House of Commons on- the sitnatioa arising from last week's judgment o» the legality of totalisators on grey* hound race tracks, the Home Secretary^ Sir John Gilmour, stated that the law as then declared -would be enforced against persons operating totalisators in ways contravening the law. He also said he was advised that it would bo illegal, for totalisators on greyhound tracks and in clubs to continue operations. . : - The Government was closely considering the situation, the Minister added, and before deciding whether legislation -n-as necessary desired to await the findings of the Boyal Commission, oa lottdries and betting which were about to be submitted.
