CANCELLATION OF DEBTS
MR. HUGHES'S OPINION
(Received 21st December, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, 20th December. Mr. W. M. Hughes, "upon- his return from.England, said: "No'matter vnhat shape the immediate result of default by France, Belgium, and other nations may assume, the cancellation of war debts is inevitable. I consider in the face of British Notes and the attitude of the defaulting nations • the United States will be compelled to review its position."
