SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY

The Sailors' Friend Society's Institute •was well filled on Monday evening, when a concert was given by the members <aq the Orpheus Musical Society, under thii conductorship of Mr. Hanson Cook.' Th 4 programme opened with the "Soldiers* Chorus" ("H Trovatore"). Other choral items included the "Anvil Chorus," "Sleep] Gentle Lady," and "Ao-toa-roa," an out! standing Maori number composed by tha president of the society, Mr. J. W. CanJ Vocal items were contributed by Misi Hyde and Mr. Harry Matthew. Rollicking songs and stories were given by Mr. Har§ son Cook, Miss Eyre acted as official ac» companist and solo pianist. At the clos3 of the concert supper was served by thd ladies of the society. " " *
