FOR THE BLIND
IHie social gatherings promoted by the Wellington Eed Cross Society throughout the year on behalf of the civilian blind -were brought to a conclusion last week. Some sixty blind folk foregathered at the Eed Gross rooms, the afternoon being arranged'by Mrs. C. H. Chapman and members of her committee set up'from the genera] committee of the society- to care for the well-being ef the blind in.the city and suburbs. An excellent programme was provided, those taking part being Mrs. Parrott, Miss Thelma Harris, Miss Queenie Boussell, and Master Bobby Barrett. Mr. E. B. Morgan was-at the piano, and community singing -was lustily indulged in. During the afternoon the secretary of the society-.thank-ed Mrs. Chapman and the ladies associated with her for/their work throughout the year, which had brought much cheer into the lives of the blind folk. Tea was served, and before departing: each member received an .envelope containing a postal note as a small Christmas gift from the society with warm wishes for the season and ensuing year. On Friday last negotiations for the repatriation of a blind person, to his native country, Italy, were brought to a conclusion, by his departure by the
