FAREWELL TO HEAD-

On Saturday evening a large and representative gathering of citizens and old pupils met at the Seatoun School to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. 8.. Anderson, Mr. Anderson having been transferred to Te Hapara, Gisborne. ThY Key. A. A. Armstrong, chairman of! the. committee, who-presided, referred to citizenship displayed by Mr. Anderson by the" interest he had always taken in the affairs of the district: Mr. Anderson not only held executive positions on local associations, but for five years was secretary, of the Wellington Headmasters'" Association/ and subsequently- president of that- bodyVof which he was atthe-present time vice-pre-sident. .'.-■ ;: ■■:;-■;:■:■''■;■■; . . Mr. E. Kellow, chairman .of the committee when Mr; Anderson was appointed, spoke of the successful work of those days and of Mr. Anderson's association, with the Bowling Club. Mr. Kellow spdfce in high praise of .the influence of Mrs Anderson upon all with whom she came in contact and attributed much of Mr. Anderson's success ■to her personality. Mr. H. A. Fanselow, on behalf of the Home and School Association, referred to the willing assistance given by Mr. Anderson in the efforts of the" association. Mr. N. K. McKenzie, former senior; inspector, referred to the high esteem in which Mr. Anderson 'was held by the inspectors of the district. ' Mrs. L. G.- Brown presented Ttfrs. Anderson with a handsome bouquet. The Rev. A. A. Armstrong^ on behalf of the parents, Home, and School Association, and School Committee,"presented Mr. Anderson -with; a well-filled wallet and Mrs. Anderson with a handsome sealskin handbag. . ..... . Mr. Anderson feelingly thanked the speakers for. their expressions of goodwill, and referred to the ready response of the (parents at all times to appeals made to them. On Thursday afternoon the stafi and ex-members entertained Mr. and Mrs. Anderson at afternoon tea. Mr. Gilpin referred to the- ready sympathy,- consideratidn, and .helpfulness Mr. Anderson had always shown to the staff, and asked him to accept from them.a handsome reading lamp. Miss Chisholm presented Mrs. Anderson a bouquet. Mr. Anderson thanked the staff for their efficient • service ana good wishes. On Saturday afternoon Mr. and Mrs Anderson were entertained at afternoon tea by the.Tio Tio Tennis Club. Miss Button presented Mrs. Anderson with a bouquet. Mr. Edmond, president, in presenting Mr. Anderson with a toilet set in a handsome leather case, referred to the keen interest displayed by Mr. Anderson in the youth of the district and to' his enthusiasm and energy in building up the ™ t0 lts Present successful status Mr Anderson suitably responded h £ Ir'i A wus-' headmaster of Lansdown School, Wairarapa, will succeed Mr Anderson.
