GEORGE COOK'S WAY
GAINS OFFERS A FIGHT
LONDON, 6th December.
George Cook, the Australian boxer, has evolved a successful new plan for getting into the limelight, states the "Daily Mail."
Patrons going to the Blackfriars ring to see Larry Gains fight a German, received a pamphlet containing a portrait of Cook, and titled, "Why won't Gains fight me? Is he afraid because I have beaten him?"
Subsequently Gains offered to meet Cook at any time, if the Australian produced £200 for a side wager.
George Cook, who is 34 years of age, has had^ a long career abroad. He returned to Australia some time ago and defeated Tiger Payne in Sydney. Cook has met some of tho finest fighters in the world, including Young Stribling, but has never risen to anything like championship heights.
