A clergyman's wife, Mrs. Silva AVliite, wife of Canon Silva White, yie.airo£ St. Peter's Obuich, Bishoii Weai-niouth, Durham, entered a tiger's cage and stroked one of the animals. It was- during a rehearsal of tiger training iv the arena of Bertram Mills 's circus, at Sunderland. The tiger was a beautiful beast, and after we had watched him Mr. Pearson, one of the directors, said to me: 'AVhen they liave finished you must go into the ring and stroke him.'
