" V (To the EditorO. -)p. •"■ ' Sir.^-It' is.: pretty.generally agreed that machinery and over-production are largey the causes of unemployment. , We read in "The Post", the other day, of f S installing machinery- in his factory which would be run by three men,- whereas betore a staff of. one hundred had been employed.' .-■•. Why not in a case of this sort tax the machitfe^-the more .men the machine displaces, the .bigger the-tax? • The manufacturer could pay 'the tax out of the money made by the labour-saving machine. This may not be an ori<nrial idea, but it would be interesting to hear what abler minds than mine have to say on. the subject.—l am, etc., ' F.M.N.
