RECOVERY OF WRECKED CREW

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)1 AUCKLAND, 18th November. The Melanesian Mission Board has received a cable from Captain Stanton, of the wrecked Southern Cross, stating that lie has teen compelled by the weather to return to Vila in the chartered vessel in which he set out to pick up the remainder of the crew. .

Ho has- arranged for the Morincla, which leaves Auckland to-night, to call at Aneityuvn Island and pick up all the hands. ,He expects to charter a craft to proceed to Tulagi on 25th November.

One officer, Mr. Holmes, ha 3 been picked np> from. JTanna Island.
