AND NORTHERLY WINDS
■ According to the official weather forecast issued at noon to-day, winds, which are at present light to moderate and variable, will freshen soon from tho north, which will have the effect of bringing about milder temperatures Although some isolated showers' are still likely, the weather is expected to improve, temporarily.at any rate ; Barometric, pressure has remained rather low over a wide area on both sides of the Dominion, hence dull skies have been the' rule with scattered rain more 'especially: in districts with an easterly aspect.. Winds have been moderate and variable, with both northerlies. and- southerlies prevailing tho. former .being confined chiefly to tho northern and Southern extremities, of the Dominion. ■ >: ■••;/> •
: Auckland'had fair to cloudy weather yesterday, with a light north-easterly wind. In Wellington the'weather was dull, a- light southerly prevailing; ' 4.' light,drizzling rain.began to fall about 8 o'cldck last-evening and continued all night, eight points of rain being recorded at "Kelburn up to 9 a.m. to-day. Christchurch had another wot day, raiii falling almost continuously with a light south-westerly wind. " The total fall was 56 points. A north-eastorly breeze prevailed in Dunedin yesterday, there being intermittent cloud and sunshine.
