' The Assistant Minister of Defence, Mr. Francis, stated in the House of Representatives that no decision had been reached on the question of establishing an England-Australia air mail service. CONFIDENT HOPES LONDON,-20th October. ' "■While, it is impossible- at -"the moment to be more precise, it is con^ fidently hoped that an air.mail service to Australia "will be ' established next year,"i said Lieutenant-Colonel ¥. G. Shelinerdine, Director of Civil Aviation, to the United Service Institution. Probably the line will be jointly operated by Imperial Airways and an Indian company between. Karachi and Singapore, after which it is hoped that Australian iuterests will undertake the service. " ' ' There is also the possibility of a link between Hong Kong and Bangoon, via French Indo-China, operating ' in conjunction with the main trunk route to' Australia.
